So, to be honest, I am not sure what I'm doing as I start this new blog. I've done several blogs before- all of which have flopped miserably due to inattention or lack of time. Life has become a bit overwhelming for me lately, though, so it seemed like a good time to start putting my thoughts on paper. So many emotions, so many frustrations in a typical day. So many things I want to get out in the open- to share- as I go on this crazy journey of life.
Let's get started with the basics. My name is Sarah and I am a full time stay at home to five amazing children. Our family is reformed Presbyterian- we attend a PCA church in Tacoma. My oldest son, P, will be 10 in October. My second son, S, is 8, and my third son, E, is having a birthday in November. My youngest son, L, is 5 and my only daughter, Z, is 3 years old. I have an amazing husband, A, who is able to work from home. We've been married for 11 years.
This year has been a big year of changes for us. Our "baby" has started attending preschool a couple days a week. My two oldest were placed in a special program for highly capable students in our school district. But perhaps the biggest change for us was the recent diagnosis that my middle child, E, has high functioning autism. This is something we have suspected for a while, but hearing it from a doctor was no less a shock.
I hope in this blog to mainly focus on high functioning autism and use this as a way to keep track of his struggles and progress as we seek to raise him.
We'll see how this goes...
